Several versions of our youth survey are available to suit your program’s needs

In 2016, we will offer one version of our elementary survey (adapted from Child Trends) for 3rd to 5th grade students and seven versions of our youth survey. All youth survey versions have scales targeting core youth domains (Future Orientation, Mindsets, and Interpersonal Skills) and Program Engagement. There are also optional modules on Self-Management, Academic Identity and Behaviors, and Cultural Identity. All survey versions are described below (with links to samples):

  • Elementary Survey: Includes survey scales targeting Academic Self-Efficacy, Mastery Orientation, Self-Control, Persistence, and Program Engagement (see sample elementary version).
  • Youth Surveys: All include core domains (Future Orientation, Mindsets, Interpersonal Skills and Program Engagement). Adaptations are described below:
    • Version A (Full): Core, plus Academic Identity, Academic Behaviors (program effects), Self-Management (individual and program effects), and Cultural Identity modules (see sample of version A).
    • Version B: Core, plus Academic Identity, Academic Behaviors (program effects), and Self-Management (individual and program effects) (see sample of version B).

If you are a YDEKC member and are interested in using one of these survey versions, please contact Sarah Terry. Also, please note that we recommend sending home a passive (opt-out) consent form to parents at least one week before you administer surveys. There is an adaptable template available here.
