Building an Organizational Culture that Supports Your Team to Thrive

White dominant cultural norms permeate the youth development sector, despite our racially diverse workforce. Organizational culture can feel elusive, but its impacts are tangible. It shows up through the ways we give and receive feedback, navigate conflict, share power and decision making, support staff well-being, and create space for a range of emotions. Infusing anti-racist practices into our team cultures requires intention and practice, with a core commitment to relationships. For the second event in our quarterly Thriving Leaders series, we’ll dive deeper into skills and practices that enable individuals to feel valued and teams to be their most creative and collaborative.
Event Format & Schedule
This event will take place virtually on Zoom, and participants will be strongly encouraged to participate actively through the chat box and group discussions, when applicable. The draft schedule is:
- 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Opening Plenary: Keynote Panel on Anti-Racist Leadership Practices

Registrants will also receive access to session recordings and materials, in case circumstances make it difficult for you to attend. Automated closed captioning and transcription will be available during the sessions (excluding breakout rooms) via the Zoom + Otter.ai integration.
For our 2021 Thriving Leaders Series, we are drawing on five years of our popular Social & Emotional Learning Symposium and elevating the voices of those who are cultivating racially equitable programs and systems, with a focus on shifting adult practices so Black, Indigenous, and youth of color thrive. “Building an Organizational Culture that Supports Your Team to Thrive” is our second event in this series. YDEKC Members are encouraged to choose one of our discounted rates (B, C, or D).
There will be no refunds available after August 5, 2021, although we do allow registration transfers. For those who can’t attend the event live, we suggest retaining your registration and watching the recordings that will be made available to all registrants.
