We partner with the education, government, and philanthropic sectors to ensure young people can reach their full potential
We convene or participate in cross-sector collaborations to improve the alignment of efforts supporting children and youth in King County.
Why cross-sector collaboration?
We know that no sector is able to support kids and families alone, or in isolation from the other environments in which kids spend their time. YDEKC works to organize the youth development sector to participate in collective impact efforts to ensure the ecosystem of supports for kids in King County is strong.
How do we support cross-sector collaboration?
- We convene the Youth Development for Education Results work group for the Road Map Project. This work group is focused on promoting more and better afterschool and summer programs (whole day) and improving youth skills and adult practices related to motivation and engagement and social and emotional learning (whole child).
- We host Social Emotional Learning Symposia for system leaders and youth development practitioners to learn from one another and explore best practices.
- We build awareness of free and low-cost program offerings through the management of the Youth Program Directory for King County.
- We have developed a School & Community Partnership Toolkit that supports the nuts and bolts of building effective and authentic partnerships between youth serving organizations and schools.
