After a bit of a lull following initial COVID response funding, a number of new opportunities are coming out very soon to support youth development programs and more!
- Apply by October 6: Youth Development funding! $9.3M in COVID relief funding to youth development programs across the state is OPEN through School’s Out Washington. Grants will be $10K – $50K in unrestricted grants.
- LOI due September 25; Apply by October 7: OSPI 2020-2021 Community Based Organization grants OSPI has allocated $8.1M in federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds (ESSER funds) through the CARES Act to provide grants to community-based organizations (CBOs) to work in partnership with schools and school districts to support reopening efforts in the 2020-21 school year. Grants will be $50K- $500K.
- Apply by October 27: Communities of Opportunity (COO) is announcing a new investment of $725,000 to support Black communities. Black-led (including African descent and diaspora) organizations working on systems and policy change in the Black community may apply for funding here.
- Apply by November 5: Nita M. Lowey Grant Competition – 21st Century CCLC bidders conference and application for 21st Century Community Learning Centers.
- Additionally, watch for Child Care funding this fall for licensed and non-licensed programs including school-aged licensed programs coming from Washington State; King County ($4.325M); and the City of Seattle ($2.4M).

- Thursday, September 24, 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Join Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) and Kids In Need of Defense (KIND) for an informational webinar for youth service providers in Washington State. They will discuss immigration relief options for youth, public charge concerns, employment authorization, DACA, and other related topics impacting young immigrants in our community.
- Thursday, October 1, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM (PT): What is the current state of high school graduation in our country? How are young people experiencing high school this year? Register for Building A Grad Nation to explore these questions and other top-of-mind issues related to high school graduation during this unprecedented school year.
- Thursday, October 1, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Investing in the Future of Child Care will kick off with a series of webinars, starting with one that focuses on supporting small business providers. Join them to explore the operational challenges facing small business child care providers and how every community partner can play a role in supporting these essential businesses.
- Thursdays, October 1 & 8, 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM: Join Washington Nonprofits for the two-part Build A Movement! course and leave with the information and resources you need to bring advocacy into your organization. - Tuesday, October 6, 9:00 AM – 11:15 AM: Register for Seattle Public Schools’ Community Partnerships’ annual Fall Partner Kick-Off! This workshop will welcome you to this school year, get you familiar with some of the key technology and learning management systems that SPS is using this year, and give you a chance to hear from a panel of community partners about how they are engaging in remote learning and continuing to support students and families.
