Breathe in…… Breathe out……
Now with school in Washington officially closed through the the end of the school year, we are thinking about how the youth development field (and nonprofits more broadly) can be supporting parents and young people not only in crisis mode, but as adults slowly return to work, likely long before schools reopen. We are excited about some good news on our state’s “flattening the curve” earlier than originally predicted but are still heeding Public Health’s warning to not let up on the good work we’ve done around social distancing.
As the dust begins to settle, the uneven and inequitable impacts of the fallout from COVID-19 are beginning to also become more clear. The King County Office of Equity and Social Justice has pulled together some great resources to help people navigate relief and many organizations are stepping up to ensure that basic needs and educational resources – hardware, hotspots, and actual learning content – is getting into the hands and houses of young people in our communities. Thank you for all you are doing in these times!
In service and gratitude,
The YDEKC team
