Social Emotional Learning Symposium: Resources & News
Thank you for joining us or expressing interest in Social Emotional Learning in Action: A Symposium for Practitioners! On August 18th, nearly 200 practitioners – youth workers, teachers, counselors, nurses, and more – came together to critically think about their practice with young people.
With themes of culturally responsive practice, trauma-informed strategies, starting with us (the adults), and developing specific SEL skills with youth, the event clearly came at the right time. As we all grapple with the aftermath of Charlottesville and now the administration’s decision to end DACA, questions of safety, belonging, and identity are front of mind as kids and adults return to school this month.
On our website, you can access materials from the Symposium and curated social emotional learning resources. We will be in touch with more news and opportunities to connect in the coming weeks. In service and gratitude,
Anne Powell Arias,
Project Manager, Youth Development Executives of King County
