Washington State Activity
Washington Expanded Learning Opportunity (ELO) Network
YDEKC is a member of the Washington ELO Network. The ELO Network supports and promotes policies that increase access to high-quality after school and summer learning opportunities for youth in Washington. Together, ELO providers, K-12 educators, school-age childcare stakeholders, families, and youth can come together to help improve the access to, and the quality of, ELOs. Please join the ELO Network here. One of the subgroups of the ELO Network is the Youth Development Strategy Table (see below).
Youth Development Strategy Table
SOWA and YDEKC are co-hosting a Youth Development Strategy Table to move forward a conversation regarding a Washington state vision for Youth Development. The table currently represents thirty-seven individuals from divisions of Department of Children Youth & Families (DCYF), Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), and Youth Development providers and intermediaries. Our table is growing, and we continue to look for more members representing communities of color and geographic diversity across the state. We are also developing a list of individuals who would like to stay informed but cannot be involved in the monthly conversations. If you are interested in helping move this work forward or would like to be on the “informed” group, please let me know at rmurry@ydekc.org.
This is an exciting opportunity to raise the issue of Youth Development at the State level. We are incredibly glad that the Governor’s Office, DCYF’s Director of Youth Engagement, and the Director of the new Adolescent Unit, and OSPI are all engaged with us to move this forward.
